Baby pacifiers! Is it a good option for the baby?

You might be wondering what are pacifiers and why they are needed? .They relate to breastfeeding.. Babies have an innate, natural desire to suck. The sucking reflex in babies serves a plethora of purposes. When a baby sucks the mother's breast for milk , it feels comfort, warmth and love. It needs to be understood that during teething, sucking places pressure on the baby's gums though it can be quite soothing. Non-nutritive sucking is sucking on a pacifier or thumb which has little to do with feeding. The pacifier is considered an important staple in baby paraphernalia. It is used to pacify or calm the baby when she is unhappy or agitated. There are many major brands of the pacifier. One of the most popular brands is Avent pacifiers. It is suggested to the parent to buy several pacifiers in infant size. Avent pacifiers come in several sizes. These pacifiers are classified by age on the brand package. Therefore it becomes easy t o see the size and purchase. Another favorite of pacifiers are Gerber pacifiers. The Gerber pacifiers are made from only one piece of rubber, which doesn't usually come apart. Whether you purchase Advent pacifiers or Gerber pacifiers, it's important to remember that several babies don't care for pacifiers as they repeatedly spit them.

Playtex pacifiers usually come in a pack of two. Like other brands of pacifiers, Playtex pacifiers usually come in angled form with a wide tip. These are usually referred to as orthodontic pacifiers. Gerber pacifiers are usual ly basic and round-tipped, which are advertised as the "most like mother" pacifiers. Incidentally, all U.S. sold pacifiers, such as Avent pacifiers, are according to the specifications of orthodentist. It's imperative for the parent to look for American Dental Association (ADA) seal of approval on the package.

A pacifier usually consists of either a latex or silicone pacifier nipple that's mounted at the top of a plastic shield. Thi should be wide enough so it can't be sucked into the baby's mouth. Several pacifiers have knobs on the back, while other pacifiers have rings. They are sold separately. There are carrying pacifier cases and short, clip-on ribbons. They can attach the pacifier to clothing. This can prevent it from winding up on the floor or even the street. Pacifiers usually cost $4 to $6 for a package of two.

The Advantage and Disadvantages of Pacifiers

Many times, hospitals usually tarnish breast feeding by providing babies pacifiers. . When the infant is provided silicone pacifiers or latex substitutes, he or she can become very confused.

Over a period of time, a silicone pacifier can crack and even tea. That is why it is important to check them thoroughly. If problems persist, then it's wise to dispose them immediately. This is one disadvantage to a pacifier for the baby.

An advantage of pacifiers is if the baby becomes used to it, the pacifier can soothe the baby to sleep.. Howev er the disadvantage is that when the baby is irritable, he or she gets frightened. Another disadvantage is that once the baby is used to the pacifier, the baby may desire it for years. The parent will have difficulty to limit the baby's use of the pacifier.

The toddler pacifier is usually used when parents desire to teach the child to sleep without them. Once the parent gets accustomed to rocking or nursing the baby to sleep, the parent may find that it takes longer for the child to sleep. Some parents even sing for the child to sleep, but this repeated p erformance can become trying. Giving your child a toddler pacifier or a bottle in the crib can be an easy solution to teach the child to drop the habit. The child will obviously expect another toddler pacifier or bottle milk when it is awake.

An infant pacifier is highly helpful. If the parent doesn't want to entangle in problems that may be associated with an infant pacifier use at a later time, then the ideal time is when the baby is in the infant stage. The baby's memory is short. so the infant will easily forget the infant pacifier. In addition to this, an infant is more open to a change than the older baby and more likely to approve an alternative to the infant pacifier. Not only will a toddler remember his or her toddler pacifier, but he or she will demand its return. In short, a habit of three months is much easier to break than one that has been accumulating for one year or more.

Baby pacifiers are increasingly becoming popular. There are lots of awareness among the masses . Therefore you must be shrewd in selecting the one that suits all their needs. Go through the instruction manuall carefull before giving it to your child.
